It's been a long time coming...
But I finally finished my [info]artword piece for Challenge 011: Illustrative Typography *dies* Though I really, really fail because a) it's so incredibly late and b) I didn't finish all the pieces I wanted to do. I've just been so ridiculously distracted lately and the times that I actually did feel like working, the construction (both outside and in my neighbors' apartment) was crazy noisy. Oh, and the internet dying every hour or so really doesn't help.
/end rant

Luckily, [info]perspi was super awesome and incredibly patient with me, which makes me glad I have my art done in time. So yes, do read her accompanying fic Down to the Bones which is wonderful and has John shaving Rodney the old-fashioned way.

version 1 | version 2

And for those who can't read the small text:
shaving brush | blade

Also note, that I originally tried to create a traditional shaving blade, but I totally failed at that so I went with a more knife-like blade instead.

eta: My connection died twice thrice while I was trying to write/post this. Good times. *rolls eyes*

Oh, yay! It's lovely, really and truly. And thanks for the zoom in on the shaving brush--I hadn't been able to quite make out everything.

The post is up at [info]artword! Yay, us!

*also, shakes fist at your uncooperative connection...*

These are so cool!! I think I like both versions equally, and I love both the lettering and the shaving implements made out of words! There's something really stark and powerful about all of the negative space, too. Cool!!

Quite wonderful!

[info]jadesfire2808 recorded a podfic of the story; is it okay to use your art as cover for the podbook version? This just adds a cover, makes it automatically bookmarkable, and, for those with iTunes, moves it out of the Music folder and into a separate Audiobooks folder where it won't be seen or heard when browsing or listening to songs. It also then automatically shows up in an Audiobooks playlist on an iPod.

Thanks!
